Hyundai celebrates historic February sales driven by EV and hybrid growth 

The automaker's February success coincides with several industry milestones and recognitions.

Hyundai Motor America set a new sales record in February, delivering 62,032 units—a 3% increase from the same month in 2024. This marks Hyundai’s best February sales performance in history and its fifth consecutive month of record-breaking total sales.Strong demand for its electrified models drove the company’s growth, with hybrid sales surging 57% and overall electrified sales rising 35%.

Key models setting all-time February sales records included the Santa Fe HEV (+194%), Tucson (+2%), and IONIQ 6 (+12%).

Additionally, Hyundai’s February success coincides with several industry milestones and recognitions, including:

  • José Muñoz named 2025 MotorTrend Person of the Year – Hyundai Motor Company’s President and CEO earned the top ranking in MotorTrend’s 2025 Power List.
  • IONIQ 6 tops J.D. Power’s EVX study – The IONIQ 6 was named the highest-ranking mass-market battery electric vehicle in the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience Ownership Study.
  • IONIQ 5 and Kona win Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards – The IONIQ 5 won Best Electric Vehicle for the third straight year, while the Kona was named Best Subcompact SUV for the second consecutive year.
  • IONIQ 5 N sets performance records – The high-performance EV won MotorWeek’s 2025 Drivers’ Choice Award for Best Performance Car and was named the Midwest Automotive Media Association’s Favorite Vehicle of 2025. It also set the fastest lap time for an EV at Japan’s ‘Attack Tsukuba 2025’ motorsport event.

Hyundai’s commitment to innovation

While Hyundai celebrated 20 years of innovation at its California Proving Ground, a facility used for vehicle durability and performance testing, the company also marked the opening of a $14 million Care Center at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama to support employee well-being.

Meanwhile, Hyundai’s partnership in IONNA, a joint venture with leading automakers, has transitioned from beta testing to a full-scale national release, furthering the brand’s investment in EV infrastructure.

February sales breakdown

Key model sales highlights included:

  • Elantra: 10,163 units (+21%)
  • IONIQ 5: 2,442 units (+22%)
  • IONIQ 6: 1,012 units (+12%)
  • Santa Fe: 9,562 units (+3%)
  • Sonata: 5,334 units (+22%)
  • Tucson: 16,317 units (+2%)

Hyundai Motor America continues to expand its footprint in the U.S., supporting 835 independent dealers and contributing $20.1 billion annually to the economy. With strong EV momentum and a growing hybrid lineup, Hyundai is positioned for continued success in 2025.
