Ford Mobile Service demand surges, Georgia dealer expands fleet to meet the momentum

Ford Mobile Service demand grows, Ga. dealer expands fleet to meet the momentum

On the Dash:

  • Akins Ford operates 25-plus mobile service vans covering a 100-mile radius from Winder, Georgia.
  • The dealership completed more than 2,000 mobile service visits in April 2026 alone.
  • Ford has deployed approximately 4,500 mobile service vehicles across its dealer network.

Ford Mobile Service is growing fast. The program completed nearly 579,000 service visits in the second quarter of 2025 alone, according to Ford’s Q2 sales report. That growth comes as dealers face mounting pressure to hold onto service customers. Dealer share of service visits has slipped from 33% to 29%, according to Cox Automotive’s 2026 Fixed Ops and Ownership Study, even as average dealer service and parts revenue hit a record $9.23 million in 2025.

Now one Georgia Ford dealer is taking that momentum further than most.

Akins Ford in Winder, Georgia, now operates a fleet of more than 25 mobile service vans with a service range of 100 miles. That far exceeds the typical dealer range of 20 to 40 miles. In April 2026, Akins completed more than 2,000 mobile service visits in a single month.

“We recognize that our customers highly value their time, which is why we aggressively expanded our fleet to meet them exactly where they are,” said Heath Davis, Mobile Service Manager for Akins Ford. “Completing over 2,000 remote visits in a single month proves that drivers appreciate this level of flexibility.”

The expanded radius puts Akins technicians within reach of Atlanta, Athens, Sandy Springs, Roswell, and Johns Creek, among other markets. Certified technicians travel directly to customers’ homes or workplaces to perform a wide range of services, including factory recall updates, oil changes, brake work, fluid top-offs, battery diagnostics, DOT inspections, and tire rotations.

Akins is not alone. On a recent episode of Service Drive on CBT News, Jim Sabino, Fixed Ops Director at All American Ford, said his dealership runs 17 mobile service units every day. He noted that Ford has deployed approximately 4,500 mobile vehicles across its dealer network, making it one of the most supportive automakers for mobile service.

“Mobile services are a great opportunity to expand your footprint within your organization without expanding brick and mortar,” Sabino said. “It gives that convenience level that’s never really seen before at this level.”

Sabino said mobile service has driven strong retention rates at his stores, with repeat bookings and referral growth from neighborhood visibility.
