Chrysler is recalling 123,396 Jeep vehicles in the United States due to detaching trim pieces on the driver and passenger windows, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Saturday. If the pieces detach while the vehicle is in motion, it can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of collisions, injuries and property damage.
The recall covers select Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer vehicles from model years 2022 to 2024.
The nature of the defect is due to quarter trims on the driver and passenger windows that may not have been properly secured.
Chrysler anticipates that 9% of the recalled vehicles are affected by the defect and is unaware of any injuries or incidents related to the recall. Interim owner notification letters will be mailed out by Nov. 14, and a follow-up letter will be sent once a remedy is ready.
This recall follows a similar one issued earlier this month for Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models from 2022 to 2025, where the trim pieces on the driver’s and passenger’s doors may not have been installed correctly.
