On the Dash:
- Sandy Fitzgerald Angello, Vice President and Dealer Operator of Pohanka Automotive Group in Salisbury, Maryland, will become NADA’s 2027 chairman after serving on the association’s board since 2021.
- Angello plans to prioritize dealer advocacy, protect opportunities for Main Street businesses and support the franchised dealer model as the industry faces ongoing challenges.
- Jeff Weber, a third-generation dealer who leads Anderson-Weber Toyota and Toyota of Muscatine, will serve as vice chairman, with consumer trust and regulatory pressures among his stated priorities.
The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Board of Directors elected Sandy Fitzgerald Angello as its 2027 chairman at its Oct. 20, 2026, meeting. Angello, Vice President and Dealer Operator of Pohanka Automotive Group in Salisbury, Maryland, will succeed Rob Cochran, Chairman and CEO of #1 Cochran, which operates in western Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio.
Her term begins at NADA Show 2027, set for Feb. 17-20 in Orlando, Florida. The election also makes Angello the second woman to serve as NADA chairman, following Annette Sykora, who held the role in 2008.
Angello brings more than 40 years of automotive industry experience to the role. She started at age 15 as a receptionist and switchboard operator, advanced through the dealership business to become a dealer operator and helped lead the growth of Pohanka Automotive Group’s Salisbury operations. She has represented Maryland’s franchised new-car dealers on NADA’s board since 2021.
Angello said she will prioritize strengthening advocacy efforts, delivering results for dealers and customers, and preserving opportunities for future generations of automotive retailers.
Vice chairman elected
Jeff Weber, President and General Manager of Anderson-Weber Toyota in Dubuque and Toyota of Muscatine in Iowa, will serve alongside Angello as NADA vice chairman for 2027. A third-generation dealer, Weber entered the industry in 1999 as an F&I manager at his family’s dealership. He holds a business administration degree and a law degree from Creighton University.
Weber served on the Iowa Auto Dealers Association executive committee from 2013 to 2016, chaired the association in 2015, and has represented Iowa on NADA’s board since 2018.
Advocacy & customer trust remain priorities
Building on Angello’s advocacy focus, Weber said he will support NADA’s advocacy efforts, build on recent public policy successes and address growing regulatory pressures. He also highlighted NADA’s customer experience project, which aims to promote transparency, strengthen dealer reputations and build consumer trust.
Rounding out the slate, Joe Massarelli, President of Liberty Auto City in Libertyville, Illinois, will continue as secretary, and the board reelected Kirt Frye, President of Sunnyside Automotive Group in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, as treasurer. Massarelli, Weber and Frye will also start their terms at the 2027 NADA Show.
