On the Dash:

  • Jeep is consolidating its top-end lineup under the Grand Wagoneer name with a lower starting price and simplified trim structure.
  • The new model introduces a plug-in range-extender powertrain, making it the first EREV SUV from Stellantis.
  • The redesign is part of a broader Stellantis turnaround plan, including pricing adjustments and dealer engagement, aimed at boosting U.S. sales.

Jeep is overhauling its Grand Wagoneer lineup for the 2026 model year as part of a multi-year brand turnaround plan under Stellantis. The changes include refreshed exterior styling, a forthcoming extended-range powertrain, and a simplified, more affordable model lineup, consolidating all offerings under the Grand Wagoneer name. The standalone Wagoneer nameplate will be discontinued.

The new 2026 Grand Wagoneer will start under $65,000, including destination charges, offering more standard features than previous models and aligning pricing with competitors. Jeep plans to introduce the SUV with a plug-in range-extender (EREV) powertrain, allowing the vehicle to operate as a zero-emissions EV until its battery is depleted, after which a 27-gallon 3.6-liter V6 engine powers an onboard generator to continue driving. This will make the Grand Wagoneer the first EREV available from Stellantis, ahead of planned Ram Trucks offerings.

Since launching in 2021, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have underperformed. Initial production challenges, high pricing that exceeded $111,000, and multiple confusing trim levels affected both sales and dealer relations. The new strategy simplifies offerings and reduces price points to better reach a broader audience while retaining premium SUV features.

Jeep is central to Stellantis’ North American strategy, and the updated Grand Wagoneer represents the second of four major product announcements this year, beginning with the new Jeep Cherokee. U.S. sales for Jeep are trending upward, on pace for the first year-over-year increase since 2018, when the brand sold a record 973,000 vehicles compared with 587,725 units last year.
