Toyota recalls 106K Tacoma Trucks over brake hose safety issue

The automaker will notify customers by early April 2025.
Toyota is recalling approximately 106,000 2024-2025 Tacoma 4-wheel-drive vehicles in North America due to issues with the rear brake hoses.

Toyota CEO | Koji Sato

Japanese automaker Toyota is recalling approximately 106,000 2024-2025 Tacoma 4-wheel-drive vehicles in North America due to a potential safety issue with the rear brake hoses. The recall affects vehicles equipped with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch Toyota wheels, with models in North America, Central and South America, and other regions.

The issue arises when mud and dirt accumulate inside the rear wheels, particularly under off-road conditions. Over time, this build-up can damage the rear brake hoses, leading to brake fluid leaks and an increased risk of a crash.

To address this, Toyota dealers will replace both rear brake hoses in all affected vehicles at no cost to customers. Dealers will also carry out the replacement as part of the recall process.

The automaker will notify customers by early April 2025.

For further details and to check if your vehicle is involved, Toyota encourages customers to visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls. By entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate, drivers can confirm whether their vehicle is affected.

In addition, Toyota customer support is available for any questions by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Center at 1-800-331-4331.

Currently, this recall follows the company’s 2023-2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid recall of over 400,000 vehicles due to a potential loss of brake assist.
