Jack Hollis retires from Toyota after 33 years

Hollis leaves behind a legacy of leadership and advocacy that has helped shape Toyota’s success in North America.
Jack Hollis, a prominent leader at Toyota Motor North America, has retired after 33 years with the company, effective January 22.

Jack Hollis & Mark Templin

Jack Hollis, a key leader at Toyota Motor North America, has retired after 33 years with the company, effective January 22. Hollis, who served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and head of sales, will be succeeded by Mark Taplin, a longtime Toyota Executive, starting January 27.

Hollis joined Toyota in 1992 and became one of its most recognizable leaders, known for fostering strong relationships with dealers and representing the Toyota brand at major industry events.

While no specific reason was given for his retirement, Hollis mentioned his intention to pursue new challenges.

Toyota CEO Ted Ogawa praised Hollis for his contributions, including building a world-class sales and marketing team, strengthening relationships with dealers, and advocating for the brand at events like the Olympics and Paralympics.

Meanwhile, Templin, a 35-year Toyota veteran, will assume Hollis’ responsibilities, including overseeing sales, marketing, product planning, Toyota Racing Development, customer service, and manufacturing support for both Toyota and Lexus in North America. He currently serves as COO of Toyota Financial Services Corporation.

Templin’s deep knowledge of Toyota’s operations and dealer network positions him to play a critical role in the company’s ongoing transformation into a mobility company. His extensive experience and focus on customer satisfaction are expected to drive Toyota forward.

Nevertheless, Hollis’ retirement marks the end of a distinguished tenure, leaving behind a legacy of leadership that has significantly contributed to Toyota’s success in North America.
