Stellantis unveils new software and connected features for its global lineup

Stellantis has announced a series of software products and connected features to elevate customer mobility experiences and expand revenue

Stellantis, encompassing brands like Chrysler, Fiat, and Peugeot, has announced a series of software products and connected features to elevate customer mobility experiences and expand revenue from software and connected services. This strategic move was revealed in a press release on Thursday, highlighting Stellantis’ transition towards a startup mindset with a strong emphasis on speed and internal software capabilities.

Chief Software Officer Yves Bonnefont emphasized the company’s shift towards innovation and agility, showcasing one of their latest offerings—a ChatGPT-enhanced virtual assistant capable of conversing in natural language. Following a successful pilot in October 2023, this virtual assistant will be launched across 20 European countries by the end of 2024.

Another notable introduction is the AppMarket, an in-vehicle hub enabling drivers to purchase subscriptions and access services seamlessly while on the move. Currently available in North America, a similar service is set to debut in Europe. Additionally, Stellantis introduced e-Routes, a mobile app leveraging real-time vehicle data to optimize routes and charging stops for battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Initially launched in Europe, e-Routes will expand globally later this year.

Among the lineup of connected features are Free2move Connect Fleet and MyTasks, which cater to commercial vehicle users and enhance operational efficiency with real-time vehicle insights, location tracking, and task management capabilities.

Stellantis boasts a connected car parc of 13.8 million vehicles globally, delivering 94 million over-the-air (OTA) updates and attracting over 5 million users to subscription-based products in 2023 alone. The automaker’s strategic focus revolves around making driving safer, life easier, and experiences more exciting for its customers.

The global automotive software market is witnessing significant growth, with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15% by the end of the decade, according to insights from “Reshaping Global Business With Connected Vehicles,” a collaboration between PYMNTS Intelligence and American Express. Stellantis’ latest innovations align with this trend, positioning the company at the forefront of the evolving automotive software landscape.
