The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) has elected Tom Castriota as its next vice chairman, indicating that he will likely be the organization’s chairman in 2025, according to Automotive News.

At the association’s board meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, on October 17, Castriota, the owner of Castriota Chevrolet in Hudson, Florida, was chosen for the position.

Castriota is a United States Marine Corps veteran, the former chairman of the Florida Automobile Dealers Association, and serves on the board of directors of NADA, representing Florida’s franchised new-car dealers. He was also awarded Time Magazine Dealer of the Year in 2011.

“I am deeply humbled by the privilege of working for this amazing institution. I genuinely want to put in the effort and represent the dealer’s interests,” he stated. “Working hand-in-hand towards a shared vision is as important as the outcomes we want to achieve.”

Gary Gilchrist, current NADA vice chairman and president of Gilchrist Chevrolet-Buick-GMC in Tacoma, Wash., was also elected chairman for 2024. Gilchrist will succeed Geoffrey Pohanka, chairman of the Pohanka Automotive Group in Capitol Heights, Maryland, as 2023 NADA chairman.

“Our achievements have resulted from dedication, commitment, and sacrifice from dealers, staff, and the Automotive Trade Association Executives who have worked tirelessly to uphold the values that define NADA,” added Gilchrist. “As we move forward, we will not waver in our resolve to welcome change. Recall that it has the power to bring about constructive change.”

Additionally, Robert Vail, president of Bedford Hills, New York’s Vail Buick-GMC, was chosen as secretary by the 65-member NADA board of directors. Kirt Frye, president of Sunnyside Automotive Group in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, was appointed treasurer.
