Ford Bronco sales narrow gap with Jeep Wrangler

It demonstrates that the American market is receptive to other tough and capable midsized SUVs besides Jeeps.
Ford Bronco vs. Jeep

The Ford Bronco is swiftly catching up to the Jeep Wrangler in terms of sales, even though it hasn’t yet done so. This is excellent news for Ford as well as for Bronco enthusiasts since it demonstrates that the American market is receptive to other tough and capable midsized SUVs besides Jeeps.

The American market is more than happy to accept a vehicle that isn’t a Wrangler but is just as tough-looking and capable of going off-road. Customers prefer vehicles with modular features so that owners may customize their vehicles while still paying homage to the heritage of the particular model. The largest challenge is just meeting demand, and those figures also reflect that.

Using data from a report by AutoForecast Solutions compares the fourth quarters of 2021 and 2022. The Jeep Wrangler outsold the Ford Bronco by 39,900 units during the last quarter of 2021. When manufacturing began to finally match up demand in 2022, Bronco’s sales not only increased by about 24% but also reduced the difference between them to just 10.46%.

The Ford Bronco outsold the Jeep Wrangler by 30,670 vehicles by the end of 2022. The Bronco also had a successful year in 2022, outselling the Wrangler by 10,412 to 11,874 units.

Now that 2023 has begun, it appears that the Bronco will overtake the Wrangler and prove that 2022 wasn’t an anomaly. First, sales of the Bronco increased from 8,101 units in 2022 to 10,170 units in January 2023, a 25.5% increase. Wrangler sales, in contrast, have decreased by 30% since 2022. The Wrangler only managed to sell 10,173 units in January 2023, compared to 14,579 the year before.

Ultimately, if Ford can finally resolve its supply chain troubles with the Bronco, Ford’s well-liked SUV may surpass the Jeep Wrangler, the long-reigning king of off-roading.
