Several auto dealerships changed hands in Q2 and Q3

dealerships

Toyota, Kia, Stellantis, Ford, and General Motors dealerships have traded hands in multiple transactions across five states during the second and third quarters of this year, Automotive News reports.

On September 26, Gilchrist Automotive purchased Toyota of Lawton, the Gilchrist Group’s first Oklahoma and first dealership outside of Texas. It’s also the group’s first return to the Toyota brand in over two decades.

The Chantz Scott Auto Group bought Steve Grindstaff’s Kia dealership on July 26, bringing its total Kia stores to two. CEO Chantz Scott said, “I wanted to buy this Kia store because this is where I started selling cars back in 2004.”

Scott also sold both of his Stellantis dealerships this year – Auto World of Big Stone Gap in Virginia to Gavin Harbolt and his Tennessee dealership to Carl Reinhart, the previous general manager. That sale follows the termination of a $5 million purchase deal with LMP Automotive in February.

Max Motors Dealerships acquired Swafford’s Ford Sales in Richmond, Mo., purchased the dealership from the Swafford family on August 18. It’s Max Motor’s fifth Ford dealership, and a spokeswoman for the company said Max Motors was interested in the store because of its character and family history.

The Gerald Jones Auto Group of Augusta, Georgia, bought Johnson Motor Co., a Buick-GMC dealership in South Carolina, on June 6. The purchase marks the auto group’s expansion into the state.
