Polestar has appointed Rick Bryant as Head of Polestar North America, effective May 12.
Bryant has over three decades of automotive industry experience, including thirteen months as Head of Operations for Polestar North America. Before joining the Swedish EV automaker, he held several executive roles at Volvo Cars.
“Rick has been instrumental in advancing Polestar’s transformation into a sales-driven organization,” Kristian Elvefors, Head of Commercial at Polestar, stated. “His leadership and deep industry expertise make him ideally suited to guide the next phase of our growth.”
Bryant succeeds Anders Gustafsson, who parted ways with the automaker on May 11. Gustafsson joined Polestar in July 2024 as president of North America. Before joining the company, he served as senior vice president, president and CEO of Volvo Car USA.
Volvo, once Polestar’s majority owner, has gradually reduced its stake in the company. However, China’s Geely, Volvo’s parent company, is increasing its ownership position.
Byrant’s appointment as Head of North America and sales-driven outlook aligns with Polestar’s ongoing efforts to scale operations and presence in North America. In the first quarter, the automaker delivered more than 12,300 vehicles, a 76% year-over-year increase in global sales.
