On the Dash:
- Diallo’s return puts a familiar Honda executive back in a key leadership role overseeing the automaker’s U.S. auto business.
- His experience across Honda and Acura sales gives dealers a leader with established relationships throughout the network.
- Dave Cantin Group Managing Director Ray Mikiciuk said Diallo’s return should provide additional support for Honda and Acura dealers.
American Honda has appointed Mamadou Diallo to return as Executive Vice President of its Auto Business Center, effective Oct. 1, bringing back a veteran leader with more than two decades of experience across the automaker’s Honda and Acura sales organizations.
Diallo departed American Honda in 2024 to become CEO of automotive supplier Piston Group. His return, about two years later, will put him over Honda and Acura Sales, Marketing and Product Planning, as well as Parts and Service Operations in the U.S.
Diallo joined American Honda in 2001 and held a series of sales leadership roles, including Vice President of Auto Sales and, later, Senior Vice President overseeing all Honda and Acura sales, before leaving the company.
Dealer relationships are central to this transition. Ray Mikiciuk, a Managing Director at Dave Cantin Group and Former American Honda Sales Executive, welcomed Diallo’s return. Having known Diallo for over 20 years and worked with him in Acura’s Dallas Zone since 2005, Mikiciuk believes that Diallo’s leadership will enhance the support American Honda provides to its dealers.
“This is great news for the Honda and Acura brands and it will be well received by the dealer body,” Mikiciuk said in an email statement obtained by CBT News. “Mamadou Diallo and I go way back to 2005, when we worked together in the Dallas Zone for Acura. Mamadou’s return to Honda will help Lance Woelfer, the vice president of American Honda sales, to provide even greater support to dealers.”
As Honda dealers face changing consumer demand, product mix challenges and affordability pressures, Diallo’s familiarity with the dealer network is expected to strengthen communication and execution across Honda’s retail network during this transition.
