Trailblazing motorcycles and motherhood: Nicki Snyder’s journey in a male-dominated industry

In this Women Driving the Industry episode, we speak with Nicki Snyder, the chief marketing officer (CMO) at American Road Group. She shares her inspiring journey to success in the predominantly male-dominated motorcycle industry while skillfully balancing the demands of her high-profile job and her responsibilities as a mom!

Snyder’s career in the motorcycle industry began when she graduated from Malone University and took a Marketing Coordinator position at her local Harley-Davidson dealership. In the ten years she worked for that group, the dealer principal acquired three additional dealerships, for which Snyder handled the marketing.

She has been working with American Road Group for five years. As CMO, Snyder oversees the marketing strategy for 13 dealerships across five states. In addition to her career highlights, she’s also a mom to three young boys. In her free time, she also writes a blog called “Momming All the Boys.”

With so many responsibilities and hobbies, one must ask how she handles everything. Snyder didn’t disappoint with her insightful, straightforward, yet practical advice.

Find a sound support system, both personally and professionally. Rely on family members to support you when you need to prioritize work, and if you’re in leadership, develop strong teams that can operate seamlessly in your absence.

Learn how to multitask and prioritize your time. Wake up earlier to complete work tasks so that your evenings are free to spend with your loved ones.

Be bold. As a woman entering a male-dominated industry, you must be outspoken and confident. Do not minimize your worth; you deserve to be at the table just as much as anyone else.

Find and use a mentor. Mentors play a vital role in professional development by guiding you through your career, connecting you with the right people, and providing essential insights that encourage your continued growth.

Invest in your professional growth and continue to learn. Research and read industry-related articles, take courses, and attend industry conferences. If you can, deliver a speech at a conference to further enhance your skills.

Most importantly, enjoy the journey and where you are right now. Appreciate the moments because they don’t last forever.

Snyder’s incredible journey showcases the power of resilience and support. By embracing challenges, investing in growth, and celebrating every moment, she inspires others to thrive in any industry.

"Don't be intimidated! Own your creativity, own what you bring to the table, and speak up. Don't be afraid to be who you are!" – Nicki Snyder
