On March 21, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported a recall of 147,100 vehicles from Korean manufacturers Hyundai and Kia.
As per safety regulations, this action was prompted by concerns over a potentially damaged Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The ICCU could fail to charge the 12-volt battery, risking a loss of driving power and heightening the chance of an accident.
Hyundai’s recall affects 98,878 vehicles, covering specific models of Ioniq and Genesis, while Kia’s recall encompasses 48,232 vehicles, mainly targeting specific EV6 models. This recall underscores the importance of stringent safety regulations and the need for prompt action to mitigate potential hazards in vehicle operations.
Dealers will inspect and repair the ICCU and fuse as needed in addition to upgrading the ICCU software.
