This week, Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft announced a partnership that will use Microsoft Cloud as a data platform to improve production efficiency at over 30 passenger car plants across the globe.

According to a statement from the automaker, the data platform, called MO360, is already available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Plans to launch in the United States and China are also forthcoming.

The project’s goal is to use the data platform to collect information across all steps of the production process, from logistics to the assembly line. That data will be used to create a virtual replica to help teams quickly identify potential supply chain bottlenecks.

“With the MO360 data platform, we democratize technology and data in manufacturing. As we are moving toward a 100% digital enterprise, data is becoming everyone’s business at Mercedes-Benz. Our colleagues on the shop floor have access to production and management-related real-time data. They are able to work with drill-down dashboards and make data-based decisions,” said Jan Brecht, Chief Information Officer, Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

Mercedes-Benz says the collaboration should lead to a 20% increase in vehicle production efficiency by 2025 compared to 2022.
