2017 Hyundai Ioniq, Company’s First Dedicated Electrified Vehicle Platform Arrives In December – Sometime before the end of 2016, Hyundai dealers in California and other states that follow its emissions regulations will start selling the brand’s first-ever car specifically developed around electrified powertrains. The Hyundai Ioniq and its Kia crossover cousin, the NIro share an architecture that will be available exclusively with hybrid, plug-in hybrid or battery electric drive. Hyundai invited us to its technical center outside Ann Arbor this week to give us the low-down on what motivates the Ioniq.

Ford to reveal small EcoSport SUV to sell in U.S. –  Ford said today it will reveal a new EcoSport crossover on Monday in Los Angeles and plans to bring the small SUV to the U.S. for the first time in the vehicle’s history.

Renault’s cheap $8,000 electric car could be here within two years: CEO –  A low-cost $8,000 electric car produced by automaker Renault-Nissan could come within in the next two years, chief executive Carlos Ghosn told CNBC Tuesday. Last week, Ghosn announced the carmaker’s plans to launch a cheap electric vehicle in China with a price tag of around $8,000 after subsidies. He did not give a timeline for this during that announcement but has now revealed it could be soon.

VW group sales up 4.7 percent in October, third straight monthly gain – Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) group sales rose 4.7 percent in October, the third straight monthly increase, powered by gains at all of the carmaker’s volume and luxury brands. Group deliveries including the Audi, Porsche and Skoda nameplates increased to 870,300 vehicles from 831,300 a year earlier, Volkswagen (VW) said on Friday.
