2024 Polestar 2 deliveries expected in August, price starting at $51K

The EV maker highlights that the single-motor is now rear-wheel drive, powered by a new permanent magnet motor and silicon carbide inverter.
2024 Polestar 2

Swedish EV maker, Polestar, announced its U.S. pricing and availability for the 2024 Polestar 2, which has received significant updates, including subtle tweaks, more range, new motors, enhanced performance, and increased standard equipment.

The 2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor will start at $51,300, and the Long Range Dual Motor variant will start at $56,700. Both prices include a $1,400 destination fee, which means both models are more expensive than their predecessors: by $1,500 for the RWD version and $3,400 for the AWD version.

Both Polestar 2 variants will include next-generation electric motors and inverters that are said to offer an increase in efficiency and performance.

The EV maker highlights that the single-motor is now rear-wheel drive, powered by a new permanent magnet motor and silicon carbide inverter. The new motor has a power output of 295 horsepower and maximum torque of 361 pound-feet. In addition, the rear-wheel drive will also gain a new larger 82-kWh battery pack that enables an EPA estimated range of 320 miles, an increase of 30 miles over the predecessor model.

The 2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor also receives powertrain improvements in the form of two new electric motors that provide additional power, torque, and a rear-drive bias. The dual motor type has the new rear motor as its primary drive source, with a second asynchronous motor supporting the front axle.

The motors’ combined output has increased from the initial 402 hp and 487 lb-ft to 415 hp, or 310 kW, and 546 lb-ft. The traction, general efficiency, and performance are all stated to be significantly improved as a result. For instance, the sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour now takes 4.3 seconds.
