Citroën has announced the appointment of Xavier Chardon as Chief Executive Officer, effective June 2, 2025. He will report directly to Jean-Philippe Imparato, Stellantis’ Chief Operating Officer for Enlarged Europe. Chardon will lead the French automaker’s continued transformation strategy and is expected to build on the brand’s recent product momentum and evolving market position.
Chardon brings nearly two decades of experience with Citroën and a strong international background in automotive leadership. His return marks a pivotal moment for the brand as it adapts to the fast-changing demands of electrification, sustainability, and global competition. His leadership will focus on strengthening Citroën’s identity while driving innovation across its vehicle lineup.
He succeeds Thierry Koskas, who led the company through a crucial period of renewal, including recent model launches such as the updated C5 Aircross SUV. Under Koskas’ leadership, Citroën undertook significant efforts to refresh its product offerings and reinforce its presence in key markets.
Chardon’s appointment reflects Stellantis’ strategy to position Citroën as a distinct and resilient brand within its global portfolio. With a deep understanding of Citroën’s heritage and future potential, Chardon is tasked with navigating the brand through industry shifts and ensuring it maintains a competitive edge in Europe and beyond.
This leadership change is part of a broader organizational strategy within Stellantis as the group aligns its brands with long-term electrification and mobility goals.
