Toyota is recalling 55,405 Toyota Camry Hybrid and Corolla Cross Hybrid vehicles in the U.S. amid concerns about a loose powertrain bolt that could lead to a loss of propulsion or a fire, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced.
The recall covers select 2025-2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid and 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid vehicles. The automaker estimates that only 1% of the recalled cars are affected.
A bolt inside the inverter may not have been tightened properly, increasing the risk of loosening. An incomplete contact at the inverter terminal can result in a loss of propulsion or an increased risk of fire while the vehicle is operating. A sudden loss of power when traveling at higher speeds or a vehicle fire can increase the risk of collisions, injuries, and fatalities.
Customers will be notified of the issue by mid-February 2026, and owners of impacted vehicles will be informed when a final repair remedy is available.
