  1. Daimler to unveil long-distance electric car in October
    According to Reuters…Germany’s Daimler will lift the curtain on its much-anticipated long-distance electric car at the Paris Motor Show in October, as the automaker gears up to compete with Tesla Motors Inc’s Model X Sport utility vehicle SUV. The company is not specific when the car would hit the road, but said it would be sometime this decade.
  2. GM unveils new feature to prevent child deaths in hot cars
    CNN Money is reporting that gm plans on introducing a new feature on the 2017 GMC Acadia to help prevent child deaths in hot cars. Much like a seat belt reminder, a warning tone will sound and a reminder to “look in rear seat” will appear in the center of the Acadia’s Speedometer. GM says the feature will use the same back door sensors that tell you a door is open when driving.
  3. FCA confirms Maserati SUV, Alfa sedan just months away
    The Detroit Free Press says FCA has confirmed the Maserati Levante SUV and the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sedan are just months away from being launched. Both have been in development for years and have been delayed several times.
  4. Nissan to develop ethanol-based fuel cell technology by 2020
    And Reuters reports that Nissan is developing fuel cell vehicle technology, using ethanol as a hydrogen source in what would be an industry first, and plans to commercialize its system in 2020 as part of efforts to develop cleaner cars. Nissan says the technology would be ready for use in vehicles in 2020.
