Honda and Acura have announced that Prologue and ZDX EV owners now have access to over 23,500 Tesla Superchargers across the United States through a new Honda-approved NACS-CCS DC fast-charging adapter. The new adapter is the only Honda-approved adapter that connects safely with Tesla’s Supercharger network and has been tested for safety, performance and compatibility.
The new adapter is $225 and available for purchase at authorized Honda and Acura dealerships or online. Currently, to utilize the charging capabilities of the Tesla Supercharger, customers must download and use the Tesla app.
Here’s why it matters:
In the United States, one of the most significant hurdles to consumer EV adoption is the lack of a robust and reliable charging infrastructure. Some of the most common customer concerns include range anxiety, the availability of charging stations and charging speed.
Tesla’s Supercharger network is the most expansive, with over 23,500 chargers available nationwide. With thousands of locations and its fast-charging capabilities, it can offer a lot of comfort to consumers who can connect to it.
By offering a compatible adapter, Honda is expanding its EV customers’ access to fast, safe and reliable charging. In addition to an adapter, Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX owners can now use the built-in Google Maps to locate their nearest Supercharger, an effective way to alleviate anxiety.
