Dodge Durango standardizes HEMI V-8 engine across all models for 2026

The new lineup provides top-notch towing and horsepower enhancements, delivering affordable performance to the midsize SUV segment.
Starting with dealer orders placed August 13, 2025, every Dodge Durango will come standard with a HEMI V-8 engine.

Dodge CEO | Matt McAlear

Starting with dealer orders placed August 13, 2025, every Dodge Durango, from the entry-level GT to the 710-horsepower SRT Hellcat, will come standard with a HEMI V-8 engine. This marks the first time the entire Durango lineup will have V-8 power, boosting horsepower, torque, and towing capability across all models.

The move aims to capitalize on recent sales momentum and meet customer demand for performance and value. The Durango GT becomes the most affordable all-wheel-drive V-8 SUV in the industry, starting at $42,495 MSRP. The SRT Hellcat model returns as the most powerful gas-powered SUV ever built, now starting under $80,000.

Here’s why it matters

Dodge is reinforcing its position in the competitive midsize SUV market by delivering muscle-car performance across the Durango lineup, providing dealers with a strong value proposition. The addition of the HEMI V-8 to all models, including the GT and R/T, adds significant power and towing capacity, critical selling points for many SUV buyers. The Durango’s best-in-class towing of up to 8,700 pounds stands out among competitors, helping dealers attract customers who value both utility and performance.

The affordable starting prices and new performance upgrades give dealers new inventory with compelling muscle-SUV credentials, supporting stronger showroom traffic and potentially higher profit margins. The expanded SRT Hellcat Jailbreak customization program further offers unique selling angles to enthusiasts and repeat customers.
