  • Honda confirmed the third-generation Ridgeline, arriving within two years with a more rugged design.
  • Production of the current 2026 Ridgeline pauses later this year to prepare for the changeover.
  • The new pickup stays exclusive to Honda’s Alabama plant, alongside the Passport, Pilot and Odyssey.

Honda confirmed development of the third-generation Ridgeline, its next midsize pickup, set to arrive within two years. Production of the current 2026 model will pause later this year as Honda prepares its Alabama plant for the new truck.

The redesigned pickup stays rooted in the U.S. It’s being designed at Honda’s Southern California styling studio and engineered at the Honda Auto Development Center in Ohio. Production remains exclusive to the Honda Alabama Auto Plant, the same facility that builds the Passport, Pilot and Odyssey.

Honda hasn’t released specs or full images beyond a teaser shot. The automaker did commit to a more rugged design for the next model, a departure from the crossover-based styling that’s defined the truck since it launched in 2005.

“The award-winning Honda Ridgeline has introduced innovative new technologies and features to America’s truck market for two decades, prioritizing features and capabilities recreational truck buyers need and use the most,” Lance Woelfer, Vice President of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor, said in a statement.

Woelfer said the next model will build on that legacy while adding more rugged design and capability. He confirmed it will still be built by Honda associates in Alabama.

The redesigned truck will land in a midsize truck segment where Toyota’s Tacoma held the sales lead through the second quarter of 2026. The current second-generation truck has been in production at the Alabama plant, which also builds the Passport, Pilot and Odyssey using domestic and globally made parts.

Honda has been producing automobiles in America for more than 40 years and currently operates eight major auto manufacturing facilities in the country. The automaker sells its lineup through more than 1,000 independent U.S. dealers, and in 2025, about 99% of Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. were made in North America, with roughly 60% built domestically.

Honda’s electrified lineup, including the Prologue SUV and hybrid versions of the Accord, CR-V, Civic and Prelude, made up nearly a third of the company’s total U.S. sales in 2025.
