  • The 2026 Toyota RAV4 lineup will be fully electrified, offering only hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.
  • Performance and efficiency increase across all trims, with up to 52 miles of EV range and 44 MPG combined.
  • A new GR Sport model debuts, developed with Toyota GAZOO Racing for enhanced handling and sporty design.

The 2026 Toyota RAV4, debuting this winter, marks the next evolution of its best-selling small SUV with a 100% electrified lineup, new styling, and upgraded technology. Available in three design themes—core, rugged, and sport—the sixth-generation RAV4 will feature hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models across seven grades, including the first-ever GR Sport edition. Hybrid versions are set to reach U.S. dealerships in December, while PHEV models will follow in spring 2026.

The new generation focuses on performance and efficiency, offering up to an estimated 52 miles of all-electric driving range in the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid and up to 44 MPG combined in hybrid models. The PHEV system delivers a total of 324 horsepower, a 22-hp increase over its predecessor, while improving fuel economy to an estimated 41 MPG combined. Hybrid models transition to Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system, producing 236 horsepower on AWD grades and 226 horsepower on FWD models, an 11% power boost compared to previous gas versions.

Toyota is introducing three distinct exterior personalities: the refined core design with LE, XLE Premium, and Limited grades; the off-road-inspired Woodland grade; and the sport lineup featuring SE, XSE, and the performance-focused GR Sport. The GR Sport, developed with Toyota GAZOO Racing, enhances handling and aerodynamics through performance-tuned suspension, aerodynamic components, and exclusive sport styling.

Inside, the 2026 RAV4 gains a redesigned cabin centered around a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and the next-generation Toyota Audio Multimedia system, which introduces 5G connectivity and an upgraded voice assistant. Every model includes Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, offering improved pre-collision detection, lane tracing, and adaptive driving support.

Built on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, the RAV4 adds a stiffer chassis, refined suspension, and advanced braking and steering control systems for greater ride comfort and stability. Hybrid models will be assembled in Kentucky and Canada, while PHEV versions will be produced in Japan. Pricing for the hybrid FWD model starts in the low $30,000 range, with full pricing to be released closer to launch.
