EVgo, one of the nation’s largest public fast-charging networks, and Toyota Motor North America have launched the first DC fast-charging (DCFC) stations in Baldwin Park and Sacramento, California, under Toyota’s “Empact” vision. These new co-branded stations, owned and operated by EVgo, feature 350kW chargers and can serve up to eight vehicles at a time, significantly enhancing charging access in underserved communities.

Toyota’s “Empact” initiative, first announced in April 2023, focuses on improving access to EV charging, providing affordable mobility solutions, and reducing carbon emissions. The newly opened stations support these goals by offering reliable and convenient charging for all battery electric vehicle (BEV) drivers, including Toyota and Lexus owners.

EVgo drives its expansion through partnerships with automakers, and its collaboration with Toyota enhances efforts to deploy fast chargers for current and future electric vehicle (EV) drivers. Toyota commits to providing greater access to charging infrastructure, making the charging process easier for its customers.

The strategically placed charging stations are located in busy areas near grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping centers, which makes it convenient for drivers to charge their vehicles.

Additionally, Toyota has extended its partnership with EVgo to provide one year of complimentary fast charging for customers who purchase or lease the 2025 Toyota bZ4X. Drivers can locate and initiate their complimentary charging through the Toyota App.

State officials praised the initiative for its positive impact on sustainable mobility and clean energy adoption. The new stations provide critical infrastructure that will encourage more drivers to transition to clean energy transportation, improving accessibility and air quality in local communities.
