Jeep unveils four EV additions to lineup, two will be released in the US

Jeep

Jeep released more information regarding additions to its all-electric lineup and the company’s plans to increase the percentage of EVs in its portfolio. The aggressive electrification plans demonstrate the brand’s commitment to being a leader in the electric vehicle market.

The automaker plans to add four new EVs in North America and another four in Europe by 2025.

2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer S EV

The American lineup will include a Wrangler-inspired off-road vehicle called the Recon and a luxury Grand Wagoneer known simply as “S.” Both cars are planned for production starting in 2024. The S model features a range of 400 miles, 600 horsepower, and a 0-60 mph time of around 3.5 seconds.

The company also plans for half of its US sales and all European sales to be electric by 2030. The goals align with those previously announced by Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, which plans to invest 30 billion euros, the equivalent of $30.1 billion, in electric vehicles and technologies through 2025.

“Our goal is very clear: Become the global leader in SUV electrification,” said Jeep CEO Christian Meunier during a media briefing.

Jeep has plans for every vehicle in its lineup to offer electrification in some form by 2025, including the possibility of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric models. The Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models in the US already offer plug-in hybrid electric versions, which the company calls “4xe.”

Jim Morrison, Head of the Jeep brand in North America, said, “4xe is the new 4×4.”
