The 2026 Audi SQ6 Sportback e-tron Prestige arrives with familiar hardware but renewed relevance, as Audi carries over the high-performance electric SUV unchanged from the prior model year. While there are no major updates, that is not necessarily a drawback, because the SQ6 Sportback e-tron remains one of the most compelling blends of performance, technology, and everyday usability in the luxury EV space. It is designed for buyers who want electric efficiency without giving up Audi’s signature sportiness and premium feel.
The SQ6 Sportback e-tron is the performance-oriented version of the Q6 e-tron, and it makes its intentions clear the moment you press the accelerator. Dual electric motors deliver 483 horsepower in normal driving, but engaging the Boost function unlocks a total of 510 horsepower, giving the SQ6 a significant 54-horsepower advantage over the standard Q6. Power is sent to all four wheels through Audi’s all-wheel-drive system, allowing the SQ6 Sportback to rocket from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds. To satisfy drivers who miss some emotional feedback, Audi adds an artificial exhaust sound to give the EV a more aggressive character, although it can be switched off for those who prefer a quieter ride.
Driving dynamics are further enhanced by adjustable regenerative braking, which allows drivers to tailor how aggressively the vehicle slows when lifting off the accelerator. The SQ6 Sportback e-tron delivers an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 283 miles, slightly better than the standard SQ6 e-tron SUV thanks to the Sportback’s more aerodynamic profile. Efficiency ratings range from 89 to 91 MPGe combined, making it competitive among luxury electric SUVs.
Charging is one of the SQ6 Sportback e-tron’s strongest attributes. Its 94.4-kWh battery pack supports a peak DC fast-charging rate of 270 kW, enabling the battery to recharge from 10 percent to 80 percent in as little as 21 minutes under ideal conditions. That kind of charging speed makes road trips far more realistic and positions the SQ6 Sportback as a practical daily driver, not just a performance showcase.
Safety is well covered with a full suite of standard driver-assistance features, including automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Buyers can opt for a more advanced version of adaptive cruise control that includes lane-centering assistance, adding confidence during longer highway drives.
Inside, the SQ6 Sportback e-tron seats five passengers and leans heavily into Audi’s modern, screen-focused interior philosophy. A curved 11.9-inch panoramic digital display sits in front of the driver, paired with a standard 14.5-inch central touchscreen. An optional 10.9-inch touchscreen for the front passenger adds both functionality and novelty, allowing navigation, media, and vehicle settings to be adjusted without distracting the driver. A head-up display is also available, projecting key information directly into the driver’s line of sight.
Audio options range from a standard 10-speaker stereo to an available 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen system, which includes four speakers mounted directly into the front seat headrests for a more immersive sound experience. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with Bluetooth connectivity. The downside to this tech-forward approach is the near-total absence of physical buttons, which may frustrate drivers who prefer tactile controls. Gloss black trim and soft-touch materials dominate the cabin, delivering a clean, upscale look that aligns with Audi’s premium reputation.
From a design standpoint, the SQ6 Sportback e-tron is similar in size to the Audi Q5 but carries a more athletic stance. Like all Q6 variants, it is offered in both a traditional SUV shape and the sleeker Sportback fastback design. The Sportback sacrifices some rear-seat headroom and cargo capacity, but the tradeoff is improved aerodynamics, better efficiency, and slightly longer driving range. The SQ6 lineup includes six trim levels, and the test vehicle here is the top-tier Prestige trim. With a curb weight of 5,446 pounds and riding on 21-inch wheels with all-season tires, the SQ6 feels substantial but well planted on the road.
Cargo space is respectable for a performance-focused electric SUV. There is a small front trunk, or frunk, under the hood for storing charging cables or smaller items. In the rear, the SQ6 Sportback offers about 30 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up and roughly 60 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down, which should be adequate for most daily needs.
Audi backs the SQ6 Sportback e-tron with a four-year or 50,000-mile limited and powertrain warranty, along with an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty on electric components. Complimentary maintenance is included for three years or 30,000 miles, adding peace of mind for early ownership.
Pricing for the 2026 Audi SQ6 Sportback e-tron Prestige ranges from approximately $75,000 to $83,000, depending on options. Its strongest advantages include impressive real-world range, extremely quick charging times, and intuitive, visually appealing screens. The biggest drawback is cost, especially when compared to the gasoline-powered Audi SQ5, which remains significantly more affordable.
In a rapidly growing segment, the SQ6 Sportback e-tron faces stiff competition from vehicles such as the Porsche Macan Electric, BMW iX3, Genesis GV70 Electrified, Genesis GV60, Cadillac Optiq, Mercedes-Benz EQB, Polestar 4, and Maserati Grecale Folgore. Even so, the Audi SQ6 Sportback e-tron stands out by blending performance, luxury, and charging capability into a well-rounded electric SUV that feels every bit like a true Audi, just without the gas pump.
