Marissa McCoy’s career path is a masterclass in adaptability, leadership, and lifelong learning. A proud graduate of the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s from the London School of Economics, she began her professional journey at a time when the 2008 financial crisis left few doors open in her chosen field. Instead of waiting for opportunity, she created her own. Marissa joined Teach For America, earning a master’s in education from George Mason University and teaching in the D.C. public school system before rising to Assistant Principal with the KIPP Academy network.
After nearly a decade in education and entrepreneurship—including co-owning a successful CrossFit gym with her husband—Marissa brought her skills in leadership, data, and human development to automotive retail. In 2020, she joined Heidebreicht Chevrolet in Washington, Michigan, where her analytical background and people-first mindset quickly made an impact. A graduate and class president of the NADA Dealer Academy (Class 417), Marissa has worked across every department, identifying opportunities to streamline operations, boost efficiency, and strengthen culture. Her efforts have helped Heidebreicht Chevrolet earn recognition as one of the top 50 Chevy stores nationwide and achieve the 2024 GM Elite Dealers Award.
Marissa’s leadership philosophy is simple: invest in people, and results will follow. Known for her empathy, curiosity, and drive, she continues to push boundaries in an industry she now proudly calls home—proving that great leaders don’t just adapt to challenges, they grow through them.
