Domino’s buys new all-electric Chevy Bolt fleet to help with deliveries

This November, be prepared to see more than 800 Chevy compact all-electric Bolt vehicles delivering pizza. Released this month, Domino’s is gearing up to start pushing out at least  100 new Chevy all-electric Bolts in November alone. The pizza chain chose the compact Chevy Bolt EV and is wrapping the vehicles with custom branding and gasoline-free deliveries.

Domino’s new fleet of 855 new electric vehicles is not enough to reach all 6,135 pizza shops in the U.S. However, it’s more than the Chevy Spark gas vehicles Domino’s acquired with custom pizza warming oven doors in 2015.

The Bolts will be in operation at select franchises and corporate stores throughout the U.S. As technology advances, Domino’s CEO, Russell Weiner claims “having electric deliveries just makes sense”. However, the hope of the fleet-ready cars is to attract new employees. While some Domino’s locations already provide vehicles to drivers, many ask them to bring their own. The roll-out of the Bolt also aims to alleviate those issues.

Chevy Bolts are capable of going 259 miles on a single charge. Considering the small parameters each store serves, the company believes each car could last multiple days of deliveries without needing a plug-in.

On the flip side, General Motors has slashed the prices of the 2023 model down to a starting price of $26,595- making it the most affordable EV in the market. The starting price even accounts for the dealership markups, but by partnering up with Enterprise Fleet Management, Dominio’s purchasing, maintenance, and other logistics get taken care of.
