Reuters reports that Fiat Chrysler will phase out Takata air bag inflators, the ones subject to recall by 2019. The company said it will halt production of the Takata air bag inflator. The company will also notify buyers of it’s 2016 Jeep Wranger which is the only vehicle equipped with the device at time of purchase. - Jaguar Land Rover could fact 1 billion pound Brexit hit
Two sources tell Reuters that Jaguar Land Rover, Britain’s biggest carmaker, estimates its annual profit could be cut by one billion pounds by the end of the decade due to Britain leaving the European Union. The one billion pound decline in pre-tax profit would apply if Britain returned to world trade organization rules for trade with Europe, involving a 10% tariff on exports and inbound tariff of roughly 4% on components. - Production of Dodge Viper to end with 2017 model year
The Detroit Free Press says production of the Dodge Viper will end with the 2017 model year. FCA will start producing the 2017 model at its plant later this year until the model year runs its course. - Kia tops Porsche and Lexus for highest rating on Initial Quality from J.D. Power
This was a shock to most people, but probably not Kia. Kia not only topped Toyota and Hyundai in J.D. Power and Associates’ Initial Quality Survey, but the company also beat Porsche and Lexus. Forbes reports it was the first time in 27 years a non-luxury brand topped the survey.
