Mitsubishi Motors has announced updates to its 2026 model-year lineup, led by a new mild-hybrid powertrain for the Outlander, a mid-cycle refresh of the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), and light modifications to the Eclipse Cross. These changes support the brand’s Momentum 2030 business strategy, which calls for launching a new or redesigned vehicle each year through the end of the decade. While full pricing and specs will be released closer to launch, Mitsubishi confirmed that enhancements are centered around performance, efficiency, and interior refinement.

Here’s why it matters:

For dealers, Mitsubishi’s 2026 updates help maintain a competitive position in the SUV and electrified vehicle segments. The introduction of a hybrid Outlander and the improved PHEV model expands customer choice at a time when efficiency, EV range, and trim-level customization are critical selling points. The addition of a performance-oriented Ralliart variant also provides showroom buzz and upsell potential, particularly among younger and enthusiast buyers. These updates may drive more showroom traffic, improve gross margins on higher trims, and help retain existing Mitsubishi owners as electrification grows.

Key takeaways:

  • New hybrid powertrain for Outlander
The 2026 Outlander swaps its 2.5-liter engine for a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with a mild-hybrid system, offering more torque and better acceleration.
  • Expanded trim offerings
Mitsubishi adds a new mid-level LE trim and a high-end SEL Black Edition to the Outlander lineup. The performance-focused Ralliart edition will also return.
  • PHEV gets tech and comfort upgrades
The 2026 Outlander PHEV receives a refreshed interior with new materials, improved sound insulation, a redesigned center console, and a more efficient phone charger.
  • Battery and handling improvements in PHEV
A larger-capacity drive battery increases electric range, while revised suspension components enhance ride quality and control.
  • Eclipse Cross sees minimal changes
Updates to the 2026 Eclipse Cross are limited to badging adjustments and the removal of embedded navigation, though smartphone integration remains standard.
