Vehicle recalls affect thousands of GM, Ford, Hyundai, and Toyota models

The US National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration released recalls for the week of August 25 through the first day of September, and both Ford and Hyundai topped the list with massive recalls.

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain F-Super Duty trucks and Lincoln vehicles equipped with the 360-degree camera system. The company says the camera’s anti-reflective lens coating can degrade, leading to a foggy or cloudy rearview camera image.

The recall affects specific 2017-2020 F-Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 models and Lincoln vehicles from the 2017-2020 model years. A total of 277,040 units are affected by the recall.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain Palisade vehicles from the 2020-2022 model years. The recalls are centered on cars potentially equipped with a tow hitch harness either installed as original equipment or purchased as an accessory through a Hyundai dealership.

The company said debris and moisture could accumulate on the tow hitch harness module’s printed circuit board (PCB). This can lead to a potential electrical short, which could result in a fire. 245,030 units are affected by the recall.

Hyundai also recalled 247 units of 2022 Elantra N and 2022-2023 Elantra vehicles due to an issue with the emblem on the driver’s front airbag. Improper welding can result in the emblem detaching upon deployment of the airbag.

Toyota Motor Company has stated that it will recall 85,000 Lexus NX SUVs and Tundra pickup trucks due to a problem with the electronic parking brake. The statement claims that impacted vehicles may not correctly apply or release the parking brake, which could result in the car rolling away.

Once the recall is in effect, customers can free update the skid control ECU software at Toyota and Lexus stores. Owners can find out if their vehicle is affected in the interim by visiting the NHTSA website, the Toyota recalls website or Lexus’s own recalls page.
