Bret Reyes, 30, says variable operations profit at Sawyer Lyons Buick GMC of Randolph, N.J., grew five times on his watch, from under $100,000 a month to more than half a million. He joined as general sales manager in 2022 and has run variable operations since.
When he arrived, the store sat in the bottom 10% of Buick GMC dealers. In 2026, he says, it has been No. 1 in volume in the New York metro zone in four of the last eight months. He built used car strength first, then a strong new car business on top of it.
Before that, he spent a year and a half as a sales advisor at BMW Roxbury, then left to start an enclosed auto transport company, which he grew to five trucks and sold in 2022.
Since 2022 he has led the New Jersey DECA program for the industry, volunteering and judging at its state and regional championships to bring high schoolers into auto retail. With his own staff, he helps with credit and personal finances, to bring some stability to a career with plenty of swings.
