Say you buy 17 cars a month from auction and you’re incurring holding costs at $30 per day. It takes you eight days to get the car. It has to be transported, reconditioned, and listed online. All of that and nobody has seen the inventory yet. Russ Daniels, Senior Manager of Product Marketing with HomeNet Automotive, says that there are a lot of moving parts from getting auction to online, but ultimately it’s about connecting the physical asset to the digital asset. GM Dangles $5,000 Escalade Discounts While Lincoln Debuts New SUV
In a move to entice SUV shoppers away from Lincoln’s new SUV, GM is danglingn a $5,000 Escalade discount hoping shoppers will think twice. Bloomberg says the nationwide deal on GM’s Cadillac Escalade SUVs this month applies to any buyer trading in a 1999 or newer Lincoln model, according to a memo sent to dealers. Read More

 

Used-Car Leasing Sets Dealership Group Apart
Is used-car leasing making a comeback? According to WardsAuto, used car leasing sets dealerships apart, including the Van Horn group, a 10-store dealership group in Wisconsin that retails 13,000 vehicles a year with 70% of them being used. Mark Watson, Vice President of Variable Operations with Van Horn, tells WardsAuto there are several reasons for it: One is to serve more customers. Another reason is to help expand the dealership’s pre-owned inventory. Watson adds, “We are trying to create with used vehicles a unique position, one that allows us to put the client into more vehicle at a lower payment through a lease.” Read More
